What're the chances of students 'jumping off' cos of results tomorrow? hahah i really don't know. For one, they could cos of the mega shock all concentrated within the short span of two periods - our "protected time".
As it is, I'm not sure how true it is, but teachers are supposedly patrolling the corridors (the school in general) for suicide cases. And I guess they decided to release everything all in the span of two hours so they can cut down patrol time. SMART EH? :D
Totally man like what kinda world do we live in today.
Sigh alright I know people who know me may say, "of course you don't need to worry about suicide. You'll never be there!!" Wrong. I am as close to suicide as anyone else. In fact, so is everybody.
Suicide is a concious decision. When we suddenly "don't feel like living" , THAT'S suicide. Suicide of the mind. and it always starts there first, slowly spreading to other parts of the body. Pretty soon your body'll end up anticipation some huge disaster that's gonna happen to it. And will it happen? OF COURSE.
Maybe you won't believe in qi and all that martial art crap. But I do. Whatever the science behind it may be, we all know intuitively that it's true. Your mind affects the energies and the atmosphere around you. If you think suicidal, then everything around you will be suicidal that is, instigating you to go suicide.
It's not the end of the world. Of course right there and then, it seems like it is. After all, it is your life that's on the line and with no lifeline, your life would've reached the end of the line. I believe that as long as there is life, there is hope. If you jump, gravity's not gonna give you a second chance to regret your decision.
That's right folks, no regrets.
But I digress... What I really meant to talk about was the cause and effect problem. Is it because of your "sucky" results that you jump, or because you're so concentrated on jumping if you get sucky results that you actually get sucky results??
Yeah I know nobody goes to exam thinking "if i don't pass, i'll jump" that's so stupid. So what do I mean? Well actually it's the stress. It's the stress resulting from pressure-you-put-on-yourself. Not that you'd actually consider jumping halfway through mugging (thank goodness - pretty scary mann) but that your mind is already preoccupied with other stuff.
It's all about putting down your emotional baggage before entering the battlefield (exam preperation and sitting for the papers) la, if you do not clear your mind of unnecessary thoughts, just like if you do not close unnecessary programs on your comp, and if you keep unnecessary trash on a ship, the comp's processing speed'll fall; eventually, it'll crash. The ship's speed'll fall; eventually it may even sink. And your mind? If you're lucky, Your progress speed'll go down; eventually, you'll stress yourself out so much and underperform so much you may just jump. See? It's a vicious cycle.
It's totally avoidable (you don't see ppl jumping off buildings every day).
But the really interesting thing is that it's all a chicken and egg problem. Because you can't let go of the results, (a.k.a because you value results so much), you live in constant fear and dread and thus underperform. Because you underperform, you feel so stressed you feel like jumping. Because you feel like jumping, and that life is worthless, (even if you may avoid suiciding this once) it'll take up so much of your brain space that you live in constant dread, thus underperforming for the next exam. You see? We're back at square one!!!!!
So how to break out of this cycle? I'm sure you all know how to. After all, whatever answers we need can be found deep down in our circuits - we just have to focus hard and look for these answers. Here's a little piece of advice though. As long as there's life, there's hope. Yes, we're back at my earlier statement. Ignoring all arguments regarding the afterlife, fact is - once we leave this world, we can never really come back to change our impact on this world. WELL, WE'D HAVE GG-ED OURSELVES!!! Yes, the results didn't end our lives, WE did!
Take a deep breath. Calm down.
Whoever believes that results = everything and so bad results = future gone = life down the drain is purely stupid! True results are important. But they are NOT everything. bad results just means your future in the results/acadamia sector is ruined, and that you have nothing else to lose so just go all out to strike a name for yourself!
I sincerely hope that reading this will give you second thoughts about suicide. Whatever you do, suicide should never be on your mind. For those of you who may be about to jump, I really hope this has helped to dissuade you (albeit in any minuscle way) from jumping, even if at the lastest last moments before you jump. Those of you who know ppl who might just jump, please get them to read this.
And for all those out there who needs a listening ear, I'll always be here to talk to :) no matter how slight or how great the problem, I'll do my best to try solving it and lend you a listening ear :) as long as you feel you may be in need of help, whoever you are, I will never turn you away :)
